I Create Stories Through Food

Gastronomy has played an essential role in my life from day one. It’s how I express love to my nearest and dearest. I believe food is the tapestry by which we tell stories, share culture and build relationship. I like to express this through written stories about food-related personal experience and childhood memories, the creation of recipes inspired by my Eastern European culinary heritage and the food photography that captures the essence of people-focused culinary connection.

Hello, I ‘m Susi!

I am an Amsterdam based food stylist, food photographer and food writer. I have a Ph.D. in folklore and ethnography, and I worked for almost ten years in a high pressure academic environment. From an early age, I have been interested in culture and arts, and most importantly, I loved experimenting in the kitchen. I always thought that if I had a second life, I would be a pastry chef, but later on, I realized I didn’t need another life to pursue my true passions and turn them into my daily job.

Mission & Vision

My mission is to help sustainable and seasonal culinary brands and local entrepreneurs spread their authentic message and grow their brands with attractive images and engaging food stories.

“Susi reached out to us this year and I immediately felt her calm and joyfull personality. She did the styling of several shoots for our magazine this year. I’m always happy to work with Susi! She prepares everything super good with a moodboard and always double checks with us if her styling ideas match with our wishes. Susi is super creative and flexible and I would love to work more with her in 2024!”

“Susi is a very open and observant professional. In our bakery she first took the time to feel the space and watch our staff at work before jumping into any preconceived idea. She could encapsulate the spirit of our bakery in a very genuine way. Once she finds a creative idea, she is open to explore the many possibilities of making it into a powerful image.”
